The design draws inspiration from the plank masks of the Bwa people of Burkina Faso and Mali — known for their tall, geometric silhouettes and bold graphic patterning used in ceremonial dress. This interpretation pairs a winged chocolate brown silhouette with a hand-painted brown-and-cream checkerboard, anchored by a circular base marked with a single diamond — a contemporary tribute to a centuries-old visual language. A small hole at the top allows the piece to hang directly from a nail (no hook on the back). Each piece is uniquely handmade, so slight variations in size and finish are part of its character.
